Three Days In...and Holding

We spent a lot of time in the pool Friday and Saturday. Gunnar is fearless and tries to walk off the
baja step into the deep. I don't feel too comfy with him in pool unless grandpa is there with us.

Gunman is wearing his brother's swim shirt. We couldn't find one for him yet. He's watching birds at the fountain. Don't look at the dirty patio door. I have three dogs slobbering on it for a while. I washed it this morning and it looks bad again.

Gunnar did so well at church. He was a star. He shared his toys with another little boy and played with a big guy who was a visitor. He charmed everyones socks off. Grandma Jo was very proud of him and very exhuasted because he wanted up and down, and up and down, and...for three hours. He wouldn't go to nursery.

At church I have a new calling as Scout den assistant in the wolves program and primary teacher for all the eight year olds. . I've never heard of anything so silly in my life. I'm 63 and I hate outdoorsy stuff. I don't even like 8 year old children very well unless they are my grandkids. I will go and do, but I'm not sure this is an inspired fit. Ugh!!

Took Gunman to the park this morning to see the ducks and play on the playground. It got too hot too fast and there was some crying involved on the drive home--some of it was Gunnar. He's down
for a nap right now. Those don't last long enough.

We have trouble figuring out what Gunnar wants to eat. Chips and Diet Coke seem to be his food of choice. Ugh! What will we do? I've tried everything healthy and some that's not. He's finicky. But he is precious and fun. We're playing and swimming and watching some Disney channel. He doesn't like to be read to very much.

I tried to clean the kitchen this morning at 5 a.m. before anyone was up. Rick got sick in the night and might come home from work. Just what I needed--a toddler and a sick old man. UGH! But overall we are surviving.

Gunnar's parents and brothers are on the ship and headed for Alaska. We won't have much communication for a while. Hope they are having fun.

I've never taken care of only ONE grandchild at a time before. It's not as bad as I feared, but still constant vigilance and attention. I feel very, very tired and counting down to next Monday. Then I will be tremendously sad when I see him go if I live that long.

Oh, you're in your pool already. I'm looking forward to that soon as you know. Gunnar is so cute. I remember how active my two boys were at that age and I was young. I can only imagine how tired you'll be by week's end. But what a precious time to spend with the little one.

Sounds like you have a routine established and that's helping with your sanity. LOL Little ones can be a handful when you're older, that's for sure. Gunnar is a handsome little fella. ENJOY this bonding time. Remember we LOVE being grandparents because there is a LIGHT at the end of the tunnel, all grandchildren eventually go home. hang in there. take care.

I'm sure you're doing great. Got to be hard but try to enjoy it. Den mother, huh? I can't see it but I'm sure you'll do fine. Should make for some interesting posts.

Here's me commenting again - I belatedly saw that you said you can't access my blog anymore. I checked the permissions on my Blogger settings and you're still on there...did you, by chance, change e-mails? I think you can only sign in with the e-mail that has the permission attached to it, so maybe that's what's going on? Let me know, eh? :-)
