I'm At A Loss Again...

No, Red Shoes Bridgette, I did not run away with Holly. But I would run to your house if I ever do get up the energy to run--figuratively speaking. I love reading obituaries too. Does that make us ghoulish? I always thought of it as just being interested in other people, even those I don't know. I find people strangely intriguing.

I just finished reading Calico Joe by John Grisham. I read some reviews on line that said they hated it because it was nothing like Grisham's other books. Duh, people. I think that was his point. It's about baseball and broken dreams, and I don't think it's supposed to be a literary tome. (Are any of Grisham's books excellent literature? No!) It's nostalgic and reminds me of the 50s and 60s when life was so much different and kids could still dream big. It's enjoyable and somewhat tender and I read it in less than one day. I loved that part of it. So if you don't like stories of baseball, broken dreams, and the catharctic power of confession, then don't read it. I love books that don't require much from me. This one did that. 'nuff said.

I have really neglected the blogosphere. I apologize. I just can't get back into it. It's not that I'm doing anything else. I find myself just void of desire for many activities that used to make me happy. I'm sure I'll come around later--or not! I do appreciate those who wonder if I fell off the face of the earth. (Not that there are many.) I found Holly, but haven't even had the energy to correspond now that I know she's alive. I just wanted to be sure she's OK.

Carry on! Talk among yourselves! I'll try to repair the glitch that is preventing my interaction with others. It's either the heat, old age, depression, laziness, the heat, complete apathy, or the heat. Pick one or all of the above. Until later...

I like books taking place in the '50s, particularly Fannie Flagg's. Interesting.

We do miss you out here in the blogosphere! Hope you find inspiration soon. You make me laugh. :-)

Glad you found Holly. It's summer. It's hotter than you know what and nobody wants to get BLOGGED down. a little play on words. LOL ENJOY reading. It's a wonderful pastime, like baseball. Will probably pick up a copy of the book, now that I've heard your review. take care.

If you're looking for something exciting to do, try finding yourself in the middle of nowhere (Montana) with a dead vehicle in a ghost town (practically) with no service station and/or mechanic. such is my life these past few days.

ALL OF THE ABOVE!

Thank you for letting me know that you, and Holly, are indeed alive and not in urgent need of me getting in my car and driving like a bat out of hell to be of assistance!

Was that a run on sentence?

I haven't read this JG, baseball bores me. But years ago I read A Painted House and loved it! Different from his others, which is why I chose it.

I'm chomping at the bit to start Tell The Wolves I'm Home, but want to be able to devote myself to it. Sure hope it doesn't disappoint or you might see a Kindle fly over your head ;)

I like Mimi's advice, works for me :)

obits- check!
general malaise- check!

But every summer I get uncharacteristically productive with the blog. During the school year my mind is bled dry.
