It's difficult to imagine, but I'm a little cranky this morning. "Teacher neck" (that pinching of nerves up in the left side of my neck and shoulder) has set in. Things are just a tad off kilter.
Now, in addition to the heat, we have high humidity for Arizona. It's about 50%. I realize that's low for some of you, but for us it's muggy. That makes me puffy, and you know how I hate being puffier than usual. Puffy isn't a good look for me.
The roots get dyed today, so I might be cheered a bit later. I had the toes painted yesterday. Guess that was my "celebration" for the 4th. Though it took almost two hours. There were 6 sisters and aunts and whatever relation in there ahead of me getting every nail on their body polished and gelled and exfoliated. They were raucous and annoying. I glared at them meanly but it did no good. I was still stuck ankle deep in blue water. At least my heels are baby butt soft and my toes are tawny red. That end of me is lovely.
The neighbors set off illegal fireworks for over an hour. Lola turned herself inside out and was skeered. Rick threatened to call the police, but never did. The police did drive by right after they finished. Isn't that always the way?
Daughter and her family including the 4 hounds went to the mountains of Utah for the Fourth. She has to drive 10 miles out to have telephone coverage. During her only transmission she eked out that she's staying until Thursday instead of coming home today. Blakers has summer school. I thought her husband had a job. Why is it that adult children don't want our input on such matters? Sheesh!
So that's how my holiday went. I finished off the rest of the blueberry dessert. It was cool and satisfying and I'm sure it has nothing to do with my puffiness this morning.

Nothing perks the spirits like a good pedicure. I've got mine scheduled for Thursday with DD.
So there goes the fallacy of "dry heat". Humidity is very hard to take - totally frizzes the hair.
Stay cool. Hope teacher neck leaves soon.
Life here was also interesting last night when my 92 lb dog decided she was a chihuahua and wanted to sit in my lap all night long and whine at the fireworks. My heels are like sandpaper so you're one up on me. I think you need to work on that glaring look of yours, no one is afraid of you, you know that, right?
You've never experienced true DIY fireworks until you've done it Deep South Style. I ended up having to drag the kids in before their eyebrows were accidentally singed.
You really should show off your baby butt feet.
We were probably the noisy neighbors setting off fireworks.
Sorry.
Sorry about the daughter's transmission. Uh, and the job.
Eek.
Go get a massage on the teacher neck. That is not fun at all. I occasionally have nurse neck.
It might be about the same.
I also have puffiness....due to all the 4th of July food I inhaled...oh, ya and the humidity.
I have puffy feet this morning and they are not even baby butt soft - I wish!! I believe all holidays make you puffy :-D
I didn't even know there was ever humidity in Arizona - interesting.
OUCH on the neck. I am not even a teacher and I get that same thing - I think I get mine from sitting at the computer Ugh! Hope yours feels better soon!
Hope you have a stress-free day and can relax and catch up!
I think you should ignite your pyrotechnics today to pay back your neighbors when they won't be expecting it.
Blueberries? You had blueberries? I want some blueberries..and raspberries....and whipped cream..
but not at the expense of noisy-law-breaking-neighbors..now the giggle, loud-girlies could have been me & my sisters, daughters, grandgirlies, nieces, and Aunties!
Stay cool...I've been hearing how HOTTTT it has been :-(
Pedicures? Roots? Humidity? Glaring looks? Puffy?
Sounds like a lovely 4th.
I, on the other hand, had to wash me hair TWICE when we got home and don't even talk about how NICE your heels are. Like Holly's, I'm going to the garage and do some sanding later!
It's good to be back and hear about YOUR life! I've missed it!
Hugs
Jan (who smells MUCH better than she did an hour ago)
Who has more fun than you do?
I told my husband that we are officially the most boring people on the face of the Earth, I think you and the Rickster just might come in second ;)
Let's get together and bore each other to death?
I don't think my heels have been "baby butt" smooth since I was a baby. I have to do some serious sanding to get them soft only to have them crack a few minutes later "like the grand canyon" according to my friends daughter.
It has been really muggy here in Utah. I hate it.
HI!!!
HAPPY 4th of July to you, only now it is the 6th of July!!!
SOrry I am so late.
Late....hmmmm.....I am late on so much anymore!!!
I cannot blame it on jet lag one more day.....
so it's just the darn heat and humidity!!
And a few other things....I will fill you in on that later....
hugs,
jamie
Don't you just hate when you go to get pampered and some obnoxious people spoil your quiet time?
I am getting my nails done tomorrow right before going to the dentist cause my tooth decided to chip right in the middle of our camping trip.
Hope my misery made you fell better, lol.
I am SOOOOO over fireworks myself. And here in Utah, we have a whole friggin month of them! Oy Vay
Daughter was here...
