Hiatus...

I know you don't give a rat's patoot, but I think I'll take a break from the blogging world. I understand that it would be more logical to just DO IT and not necessarily blog about doing it, but...there are still vestiges of  the blog drug left in my blood.

I have an addictive personality. So when I do something, I just go crazy with what ever it is and go nonstop until I ultimately drop or start to hate it and quit. So I dove into the blog thing and really love it, but...it's consuming my life. I spend hours looking at others blogs and considerable time checking my own blog to see if anyone is following me. It's a sickness.

I realize that some of you who are better human beings than I, can handle this. I can't!

I now check too many blogs. They're starting to blur together and I forget which title fits which person. Because they are people, after all, and I get their blog names all confused with their personal names and ARGH!! See, I'm just not worthy to be in the blogosphere.

Then I look at the number of comments on some of my favorite blogs, and I think, "Yeh, right! They have 113 comments today. Like they need, want, or will even read my humble comment which will end up as 135 or something." So I don't even wade into the comment maze even though I'd like to add my two cents. And why do I even care that my comment is in the list? See, it's really not rational.

So, spring is upon us and I vow to devote my time to more personal improvement. I need to put all of my energy to accomplishing something here at home. (My REAL home, not my blog home page.) So I bid adieu to the blog world for a while. Maybe I will be back some day, but until then I just have to retire and read more books and get some quilts made and work in the yard and go on to some other obsession for a while.

Facebook is bad enough.

HI!!!!!
I so understand what you are going through, I went through that exact thing at the beginn8ing, and right then decided I would not allow this blog to be my life, that real life is far better then the computer life!!!!I do not try and get more followers as I can barely keep up with what I have.
I now just comment on a few a day as some bloggers post everyday, I only do when I have been somewhere or that grand baby does something so cute, I can't control myself from posting it!!!! You understand!!!!
Our AZ blogger luncheon will be in March or April, now it will probably be on a Sat. if that is OK with you????
SO keep looking for it and I will try and remind you of it, ok???
have a great week
hugs,
jamie

I totally get it. Reading blogs could take over my day if I let it. It's hard to find a good balance, but I'm trying. I hope you enjoy your hiatus.

Nooooooo!
But I totally know where you're coming from. When I started 2 years ago I was a wreck. I spent my ENTIRE summer vacation glued to this damn computer like it was my life support!
And, like you, I couldn't keep my blogs straight, there are so many.
And, don't look at the number of comments, we all want them, but let's face it. I try to reply to the people that leave me a comment, and I have met the nicest ones....hint hint.
Take a break, personally I felt like a 12 step program was in order.
I'll miss you, hey, I know, let's do lunch! ;)

Dude, I totally understand where you are coming from. Blogging seriously can take over your life. I had a period a while back too where I felt like blogging and blog reading was taking over my life. But then I realized it's all about balance. Maybe that's more difficult for you since you said you have an addictive personality. But for me, the first step was to give up blogligation. If I didn't like a blog, I didn't let myself feel pressured into reading it constantly and commenting every time. Secondly, I decided to let my comments come from those who really wanted to comment, not from reciprocity only. that meant that my comments dropped nearly in half. Third, I made a rule for myself that I would only blog when my kids were napping or in bed at night so that I wouldn't ever make them feel like the computer came first and they were second. It was hard, but after making those couple of changes, I was finally able to get a handle on the whole blogging thing and keep it down to a fun activity instead of the one thing I did from morning to night.

Anyway, I wish you good luck. And I hope you enjoy your blog-free-ness. Stop by when/if you come back!
