There's a radio station in Phoenix called "the Camel." One of their slogans is, "Grab a hump and hang on!" I hope I haven't infringed on some copyright law by using this as the title for this blog but it seemed perfect. Please forgive me, 107.5. I'm a devoted listener. Please don't sue me.
The pictures are of the hummingbird nests in our front tree. I have seen birds flying in and out, but no matter how I peer and peep I cannot see inside. Last night we had a horrendous storm of wind and torrential rains. I don't know how high the winds were clocked at but it was a lot.

I don't know how high the winds were clocked at but it was a lot.I ran to the front window and these little nests were bucking and bobbing like mad. I expected to see baby hummers or eggs or the whole nest catapulted from the limb. It was a most wild ride for 30 minutes or so with sheets of rain pummeling the little abodes.
I went out this morning and shot these pictures. As usual, they don't show much. I even put on the telescopic lens but I still have nothing definitive. I hope they survived if indeed babies or eggs are in there. I want you to know I tried to get some great wildlife shots. Alas, I failed yet again...
I reserved the Cd's of the book "The Help" since I had heard it was rich with dialect and three different voices for the narrators. So far I've only listened to Aibeleen on the first Cd but it is most enjoyable. I love the reader's interpretation. It's just as I imagined that narrator in my mind as I read. I will listen to more today as I work around the house. Heaven knows, the news isn't worth listening to. The movie is coming out August 10th if I heard correctly on the trailers. That's sooner than I first thought. I say I go during the day on my birthday so Rick doesn't have to be bothered. Anyone want to join me?
Daughter has arrived safely in Hawaii. She's rented a condo on the beach where surfers ride the waves and sea turtles swim right off her lanai. A nice break for her.
Rick continues to struggle with his ear crisis. Today is his day, you know. I bought him a cake and ice cream. He had cake for breakfast. That will be the climax of our celebration. Wahoo! Happy Birthday, Rickers.

Tim & Willy in the Morning!! I want to see the movie with you!! Can I go?? Can I?? I loved the book. Do you want to go the day it comes out or on your birthday? Let me know and I'll take the day off and we'll party like rock stars. Or like little old lady rock stars anyway.

We have a feeded right outside the kitchen window and I rarely see the little hummers out there. Yesterday morning I sighted one of the little things and it hovered right outside the window staring at me. I so wanted to get a picture.

The Help was the first audio book I've ever listened to and I was cracking up at the voices! I did enjoy it though and think it added to the overall feel of the book. I loved it and can't wait to see the movie. Maybe now with school FINALLY starting I'll be able to see it!
I truly hope you let Holly come with you....she deserves it after her pleading!
Oh, darn....I wanted to come, too. But the plane would NOT fly over AZ and plop me out onto your doorstep. I'm mad at the pilot, the young whippersnapper. I asked nicely, too.
