Beep, Beep! And It's Not the Freakin' Road Runner

We have an alarm system. The trouble is it's not activated or hooked up to any reporting source--I think. We don't pay for anything so I assume that means it's just there. However, for the past week it's been beeping! I don't mean just once in a new moon beep. I mean every freakin' two seconds--Beep! Beep! It's like living with the road runner nonstop.

We've tried everything to stop it. I even found the manual. What a joke! I swear you'd need a PhD in electronic engineering to understand it. Husband, who does NOT have that degree, has been pouring over the manual for roughly 3 hours and I had to yank it from his obsessive grasp to get him to stop. I gave the instructions one look and just tossed it aside. It looked like a foreign language--literally. We removed the battery from the main box which is in the top of our closet. (That in itself is another post.) And the damn thing just keeps beeping.

We've called the help number, gone to the website, looked up troubleshooting--nothing. The help number said they weren't open. The website was as illegible as the manual. The troubleshooting says we have a problem in one of our sectors. No shit!!

We took the face off the keyboard at the front door and it looks like a tiny mother board for a computer. It's all scary and technical and had nothing that looked even remotely like we could identify the problem.

It beeped all night. Of course, Rick heard nothing. He snored away oblivious to the menace. I kept getting up and pushing * 2 or # or # *. A#%*rgh!  All it did was wait about 20 minutes and then--yep! You guessed it... (Why is that A#%*rgh blue?)

I will call the people who installed it Monday. But of course it happened on the weekend. As all disasters do. It sounds like a small problem, but I'm telling you I am on the cusp of a nervous collapse almost all of the time so it doesn't take much to send me over the edge.

I hate beeping things. They're so freaking annoying.

We went through something like that in our first AZ house. The stupid thing would just go off randomly, scaring us and driving us crazy. I couldn't remember how we fixed it - I wanted to see if it would help you! - so I asked Mark, and he said we finally just took out the battery and basically killed it. Stupid alarms! Hope it gets fixed - permanently - soon. ;-)
We do have some fun places down here. Come on over - we'll do lunch!

We finally did just take out the big battery and opened the door to the keypad and that seems to be working. Whew!

I would love to get rid of all beeping things. I hate when the smoke detector starts to beep because the battery is low. Or when my cell phone beeps in the middle of the night to tell me the battery is low. Hope you get the beeping problem resolved soon.
