Anniversary and a little Angst

A year ago June 4th we left our hometown of Twin Falls, Idaho, with a full U-Haul toting a car hauler and a pickup pulling a boat, 2 dogs, 2 people, and lots of anticipation. We'd never lived anywhere else in our lives and were now headed to Arizona--no job, no home, no worry--OK, we're talking me here so there was some worry. But really I was a lot less stressed than you'd imagine. I felt anxious to be on to this stage of our life.

We stayed in Las Vegas at daughter's house for a couple of days and then forged on to Arizona on June 7th. Except for the fender catapulting off the car hauler, barely missing the pickup windshield (as I was white-knuckling behind the U-Haul) and the three hour wait to get a new dolly the trip was fairly uneventful. There are a lot of hills between LV and AZ, however.

We pulled into Awatukee about 7 p.m. I didn't even know what Awatukee was. The realtor who turned out to be not so good, was waiting for us with the key to our rental. The next morning at 6 a.m. a battalion of men from our new ward helped us unload the truck and within 45 minutes we were officially in Arizona.

MUCH has transpired between then and now. I'm happy with the way things have turned out. Really, I am! I know you think I'm sad to be away from everything and everyone I know, but not all the time. Just once in a while. I'm happy that we have a pool here in the blast furnace of hell. It's been soooo hot here this week. Our lab and our garden are both panting and wilting in the 110-degree heat. I'm so glad Rick has a job and that most of our life is going fine here in a different region. There is much to be thankful for. Things I won't list here now, but I realize that the pluses outweigh the minuses. That is for sure!

Wednesday I go in for the additional mammogram to check out the concerns from an earlier one. I wasn't really as worried at first. Now I am kind  of skeered...Just keep me in your thoughts. I know it's not a biggie in the list of problems in the world, but I sure hope I get a clean bill of health. I hope, I hope, I hope everything is clean.

Thanks to Melanie and Jeannie for the recent awards given to my humble blog. I will post those later. I do appreciate them, ladies. I am so appreciative I have my blogger friends and this blog. Those have been a boon in this year of changes. Sometimes the only people I talk to are you in blogland who most likely I've never met in person. But your friendships have kept me afloat, really. It's amazing! I love bloggers and my blog. Happy Anniversary to us in Arizona. One down...

How adventurous! It is good theat you are happy with how everything has turned out. I wish I had a pool and it is not even as hot here in Utah as it is there.

I just found your blog!! Congrats on the year but wow are you nuts :)... I've always said I'd love to move off to a land un-known to me but I think I'm a scardy cat!

We love your blog, too. :-)
I'm glad you're happy here. I still really want to see you for lunch or something. Let's make plans!

Reading this I realize what a big ninny I am. I bitch and moan about never getting out of Utah but I'm not sure I could leave permanently.
And funny thing is? I feel like I know you!
Maybe when I'm complaining about being cold next winter you'll find me on your doorstep:)

I can so relate to this post. Moves can be hard for me. I like consistancy. But once they are all said and done, I'm always happy with the moves we've made.
