Heavy, Heavy Hangs...

Thanks to all of you who offered help for daughter's blog. I passed on the tips and links and we'll see what transpires. I don't know if she's ready to blog yet. She's like a fart in a skillet (as my grandma used to say). Just flits and dashes here and there. She doesn't really have time to play with blog set up. She's lucky that she gets her kids to school, etc. I just give up trying to tell her not to bite off so much. She juggles so many activities all at once. It makes me nervous.

A man who has been our family's friend for about 58 years died yesterday. His daughter emailed me from Idaho. The service is Saturday. Unfortunately, I can't be there. That family is as close to brothers and sisters as I had since I was an only child and not close to cousins. I had a little twinge of jealousy that his battle is over and my mom still fights on. I know that's not right, but it's how I feel. I will be able to visit his children when I go home in June. That will have to do. So many memories and experiences we shared. I was four when we moved across the canyon from them. It just doesn't seem possible that it's been almost 6 decades.

You know how I struggle with depression. I just can't seem to fight it off. Such a gloom and dark cloud when really my life is fine. There's no accounting for it. I try to keep busy, think positive, and not dwell on myself...Somehow it just lingers and darkens my world. This too shall pass. I just needed to vent a bit. What would I do without my bloggy "therapy?" It does help to just tell someone.

I have the Royal Wedding set to DVR tomorrow morning. Thanks, Jamie, for the offer to come to your celebration at 3 a.m. I think I'll pass. I might be awake then but I won't be party ready. You enjoy, hon! You're such a social animal. I envy those who find joy and merriment in these occasions. It's lovely to participate in these celebrations. Party on, people. Drink a cup for me...

Lola and I may go out for a jaunt. We need to blow the stink off. (another Grandma Goldie-ism.) Have I told you how much I love "American Idol" this year? I haven't watched it for a couple of years. Just got sick of it all. This year with new judges and stellar contestants it is enjoyable again. Very talented young people. Jennifer Lopez just oozes adorable in all aspects. Steven Tyler is a hoot. They actually give helpful feedback. Just thought I'd let you know. It's something a little positive at least. I'm off to let Lola take me for a walk. So why am I the one that carries the pooper sack? Something is off with that.
Have a good day, friends. What would I do without you?

It definately sounds like you are lacking somehthing in your diet, like maybe Diet Coke. Yes, I think that's it. We must meet up ASAP for a Diet Coke and possibly some retail therapy. I will just look, you are allowed to buy.

I love your Grandma Goldie-isms. I would really enjoy reading more of them... if you have them. A whole post of them would be pretty entertaining. (If they're anything like "fart in a skillet" or "blow the stink off," I'm sure they're all hilarious.)

So sorry about your losing a good family friend, even if he was ready to go. Enjoy your walk Jo.

What's sad is when you start praying (me here) for your father to be able to 'move on'. That's when you have lived way too long. I'm sure I'll rot in hell for saying this, too.

I'm thinking about going up to Twin also in June. I've just got to this summer as I didn't last. THANK YOU OIL PEOPLE FOR THE TEN DOLLARS A GALLON GAS WILL BE BY THEN!!!!!!!!

There. I feel better. And I'll be watching the wedding crap at 1:00 a.m. I don't care for all the Royals but I love seeing the horses and the dresses. Not ON the horses but you know.

I'm sorry you're feeling so blue. You might want to consider seeing your doctor and seeing what he thinks of your situation!!! There's help out there! Hugs!

That daughter of yours is always doing too much- she always has. But I've always loved that about her. I'm sorry about your depression, that would be such a hard thing to deal with. Just keep doing what you're doing and get outside, that seems to always help. Hugs!

Oh my friend..I can so realte. I too have a dark, sad side that sometimes takes over..I call it my blue uglies. And I really get dissapointed with myself because I have a good life..nothing to be all depresses and blue about..makes me feel guilty..ahh well..least I know you understand :-)

I'm sorry about your firend. Death makes us all have feelings of doubt, dispair and uncertaitny. Consider yourself "Utah-hugged" OK??

Carry on with the wedding..I'll see it on re-runs after re-runs..but I am excited! It's a ray of light in our sometimes dark world. :-)

I love your Grandma Goldi-isms too. My mother used to say 'fart in a mitten' and I still use the 'blow the stink off' term. Hope you can cheer up soon - depression is nothing to sneeze at.

That is hard to lose a good friend - and time does pass by so quickly. It is good that you will be able to visit the family in June. I'm sure they'll appreciate it.

I am also hyped about the Royal Wedding - I think I may just get up and watch it - it is on at 4:00 am here :-D

Did you watch that new show "The voice" the other night. THAT beat all of them - It is so good!! I ahve enjoyed Idol this year too with the new judges but The Voice is now my favorite!!

Ahh Jo, I agree with you, blogging is like group therapy :)
Hmmmm, what could help? Holly has some nice ideas! As an outsider looking in, I think you're to hard on yourself!
Try this, each night as you wait for sleep, acknowledge 3 good things about your day...just 3. The rule is you can't use the same 3 within a week. Works great:)
Hang in there buddy, we're all in this together!

We are loving American Idol this year too! And as far as the wedding goes, I'll watch snippets of what they broadcast later on tomorrow. I'm really just curious to see Kate's dress and stuff.

I'm sorry the depression cloud is still hovering. I hate that. Hope the walk helped. And I'm sorry to hear about the family friend. I'm sending you lots of virtual hugs!

Depression is such a terrible and lonely thing. Yes, lonely because even when you let people know how you feel it is so hard to explain it so a lot of the real emotions stay tucked inside. I have battled with it all of my life.

I have to say I love "fart in a skillet" never heard it but boy it sums up how I feel a lot of the time. I'd never heard "blow the stink off" until I watched "Hope Floats". I use that line on my son when I think he needs to get off his duff and move.

Hope things look brighter for you over the next few days.
