Jesus Thunderwolf??

A young man that went to school with my daughter and who we know pretty well just announced on Facebook that his baby has arrived healthy and happy. I'm so excited for him and his wife.

Here's the rub--He declared that the child's name is "Jesus Thunderwolf!" I wrote on there, "Tell me you're kidding about the name..." Then I thought better of it and deleted that comment. I always get in trouble for speaking my mind. I posted instead  that I was happy for the healthy arrival.

OMG! Do you think they really named their child Jesus Thunderwolf? The dad is a marvelous, intelligent, educated, NON-Native American guy who went to Thailand on his mission so I'm sure it's not a cultural interest that lead to the name. His wife is adorable and funny and talented.

The husband and wife happen to have the same name--as in, both are named Terry/Teri (names changed to protect the identity of the couple.) The call themselves Terry Squared. I kidded them that they should name the child Terry Cubed or something equally clever. Oh, dear! That might have been preferable.

Guess I will wait and see. We've discussed the merits of and liabilities of names... This new child has "normal", well-adjusted, religious grandparents. I wonder how they feel?

As my daughter tells me, "No one wants to hear your opinion, Mom!" So I will refrain from comment. (Which all but causes me to explode...) But it ain't easy. If the baby boy is really named "Jesus Thunderwolf" I foresee lots of playground beat downs in his future and years of therapy. Help us, Thunderwolf...

P.S. Now he says the name is Atticus Que?? Is that better? Don't kid around, people. It's scary.

I would think/hope he is just joking around for the enjoyment of his friends and family! If that is his name that kid is going to have to be big and strong to get through life!!

Oh my heavens. That has to be a joke! Right? My older brother and his wife have chosen some strange names for their kids, but nothing even close to this. I will probably never tell them about this name....don't want to give them any crazy ideas.

He is sooo kidding! Um, and if he's not - you'll let us know?

Ha, ha. That is funny that you thought the name was actually Jesus Thunderwolf. I learned in high school to not believe anything he says. But, between you and I, I don't think the name they really gave him is that much better. Let's just hope Rachel picks something a little more ordinary.

My two cents:

I think parents who name their kids really off-beat, weirdo names are doing a huge disservice to their kids. Almost to the point of child abuse. Because you know darned well they are going to get teased half to death, and sticks and stones my fat butt - words do TOO hurt!!! I wonder what gets into people's brains sometimes....

And no, the other name is just as bad - maybe worse???
