This is probably the last time we will go to Vegas that we will be rerouted around this--
I am soooo excited about being able to bypass the damn Hoover Dam. You don't know how close I've come to running down tourists and visitors to this fine structure. I don't really care at that specific time if there is a bomb in the truck ahead of me. I don't! I just want to keep moving. At least an explosion would be swift. Being stuck in the slow spiral down or up or dodging gawkers on the dam itself is just torture.
If you have to pee, you're sunk. Some pee in cups. I just can't. I have been known to stop by the side of the road before or after the damn dam. Of course, some of those times it was for the grand twins...some...
People hang out their windows and take pictures. They stop suddenly or creep along at the one moment in time when we could actually move more than 2 mph. "Move along, people! What are you thinking? Some of us have places to go and grandchildren to see. Keep those lines in motion."
I am thankful that the bridge will be open in two weeks and we can speed right over this scenic wonder. For now I guess we're going around by way of Laughlin. At least we have constant motion...

I loved my time gawking at the dam when we visited, but I see how that could be a frustrating thing for the locals.
unfortunately I'd probably be one of the gawking tourists :) I've never been there :)
I also would probably be one of those slowing down and hanging out the window to take a picture - ha ha.
It IS pure torture if you need a pit stop. So frustrating. But it sure is cool to look at.
That is such a great news.My hubs we'll be so happy to know it will be open by the time he's over his surgery and back on the road.
Stupid people. The older I get, the less tolerant I am.
