Appreciation of Me

A friend/former student/fb buddy and fellow blogger just invited me to visit her blog. What a delightful glimpse into her life, family and feelings. On her page are endless windows to books, religious preferences, music, and art. Among those windows is neinie. I clicked on the "I read neinei" button and was inspired by this woman, her texture, and her spirit. I will let you find for yourself the story of neinie's struggle. What I found enthralling were her writing style, her home decor for Christmas, her sweet humor, and her appreciation for life. I have a feeling that she had all of these attributes before the accident and that they were simply heightened by the tragedy. I am vowing to be a better me. To realize my own potential and not mope. To expand my talents (for yes, I do have some even as I deny any). I can do something with this recipe that God stirred together to make ME. He didn't make a batch of Jo Anne's. He only made one. He only made one of you too. I know I was put here for some reason with my ingredients. I waited a little long to get the process rolling, but I will do it!! I am OK. I am better than OK. Perhaps silly to think I could change a rather negative into a glowing positive, but I'm ready. If I don't do it now, when? I'm not getting any younger and days are rolling by. A high school friend of my daughter's just committed suicide in the South Hills. Alone with a hose from the exhaust piped into the car. I can imagine the despair and sense of loss this young man faced as he drew his last breath and looked out on a life he chose to leave rather than tackle. I don't judge him. I have a glimmer of the pit he looked into before he took the leap. He was absolutely hopeless. I pray that he's found a peace "there" that he couldn't find here. I want to take these occurrences that I've witnessed lately and launch a new phase. I won't be Positive Polly. That certainly isn't who I am, but I can be the best me. Rick's job helps. Arizona sunshine helps. All things are possible with God's help--if we are ready to take it. I'm gonna go with it. Don't judge me because I'm evolving. ;o)

I love this post! What a great message. I love the idea that we are our own recipe with unique ingredients. So insightful. I am sad about the news about Kris, so thanks for the encouraging words. :)
