Brown or White?

Our house in AZ is rather homely. All houses in our neighborhood are some shade of tan or brown. I wanted to "jazz up" the plain house. I painted the trim a color called natural wicker--off white. Now I'm not so sure I like it. But that's not the question. I'm not going to paint it over. I need to know if I should paint the garage door whitish too or leave it brown? I am including a shot of the trim the way it was. It was pinkish tan. I hated it. I might be in trouble with the HOA because I painted without approving the color with them. I figured it was a bland and ordinary enough color that they wouldn't be too upset. Who knows! What do HOA's do if you break their rules? It's kind of a lame organization really. We pay $20 each month (which I know isn't too much, but still...Supposedly with that money they maintain the "common area" which I assume is the bushes around the mail box area. (See--lame!)

OK, so do I paint the garage door whitish-beige or leave it brownish fleshy taupe? Please give your opinion even if you don't care. I need input. I have no one to ask here except Rick and he'll say to do whatever I want. Trouble is, I don't know. So--Help!

I would probably paint it the same color you painted the trim - brighten it up a bit?

I like it the way it is. Is there a special paint you need to use for garage doors so that it doesn't peel?

I think it will look great either way. If you are in need of a change, paint it. But, I definitely love the the trim better now. Good call.

I like the trim... I don't think you'll need to paint the garage door as well. The trim actually breaks up all of that brown pretty nicely. :)

I think you should paint it white-ish! It'll set it off a little bit.

We're currently fighting off a fine from our HOA about the garage. Our old garage door broke, and we recently got a new one. It's white, and our house is beige. We have to submit a paint sample before we paint if we want to avoid paying for it. Lovely HOA Nazis.
I agree with other notes - the trim color would look nice on the door.

You'd better check on the HOA! They could throw you in jail!
I think a shade between the brown and white, a lighter version of the walls?
Have fun painting!

HI!!!
From one AZ to another Az ---I say NEVER paint the garage door, it will create havoc with the HOA and it could peel, I like what you did with the trim, but I say leave the door!!!!Try painting more light color around the pop outs around the windows???
My neighborhood luckily has about 10 different shades for the hosue, but my sister from Wash, said theya re all the same color!!!!I Laughed!!!As ours is white, my neighbors to the east is pumpkin color, the one to the west is gold, the one across is brown, their is tan and then a green shade, so who knows, I love a neighborhood different but all blends and ours does as we have tan and reddish orange trim with a red tile roof!!!!
SOme have tan roofs some have brown!!!!So all desert colors!!!!
Good luck!!!

I'm curious to hear what you did too. I'm torn....I think either one would look good.
