My Boys

The twins are now officially kindergarten grads.

Gunnar is officially the sweetest baby I've ever been around.

Grandma Jo is officially exhausted. (no photo available)
But I am home safely. And glad of it. Though you know I always go through withdrawal and sadness when I leave.

Rooster gets nervous in front of crowds. His reaction is not to smile at nothin' until he's safely off stage. So we got no smiles from him.

The graduation programs are so cute. Daughter never had elaborate slide shows and songs and such. The schools really goes all out in
Vegas. I wonder what high school graduation looks like. Some how I doubt that age will perform songs and dances...but it was adorable for the little ones. Rooster gave his teacher a big hug. Teaching little ones looks kind of fun, but that age is ACTIVE and so energetic. I could never keep up. There were really some poised young people among the graduates. I think children are growing up much faster than when Daughter was in school.

Gunman was teething. His top two teeth are poking through. Much of the time he didn't feel very good, but he is always a happy boy. I had such fun taking pictures of him in the tub. You don't want to see them all. I will spare you, but trust me--he's a precious boy.

OK. Just this one more. I can't help myself.
Four hound dogs have been added to their "family." Imagine my excitement over that development. We found out from the boys on their last visit that two of these miserable curs existed, but we were sworn to secrecy because the boys had been told not to tell us. By the time I got there the number had doubled. These ridiculous dogs are trained to hunt mountain lions. I refuse to comment on this--I can't even think of a suitable word to describe this mess. One of the dogs nearly attacked poor Lola. So she was banned from going around them. Lola didn't have a very good time. She is just exhausted too like me. She and I didn't sleep well. The hounds were baying this morning as I left. I can only pray the neighbors complain and get them evicted (the dogs, not the family.)
It's a good thing I love my daughter because there are times I just feel like throttling her. This was one of those times. With all of the chaos and confusion in her life, this was just beyond comprehension. I am mute. If I say anything it won't be bloggable.
The Rickster and I are signed up to clean the church tomorrow. Then we are going to the funeral of a lady in our ward. Not a real fun day ahead. But I drove there and back with no incidents and for that I'm always thankful. The fires in Arizona still rage. It's so tragic.
My Mavs beat the Heat last night in game five. That puts them up 3 games to 2. SIL is rooting for the Heat. I was ecstatic that the Mavs won. Just a little pay back for the darn dogs. But really not enough to count. I'm not sure he'll ever redeem himself for this one...

Have a good weekend, friends. You're right, Ms Bibi. Field days are indescribable. I stayed in the shade and held Gunnar and tried not to be affected by the madness around me. Music blared, children shrieked, ran, and shoved each other. There were water slides and games and mayhem galore. I think I'll pass on next year's event. Thanks anyway.

Welcome home! Dogs trained to hunt mountain lions? MOUNTAIN LIONS! They have paws like dinner plates with spear-like claws whereas dogs have tiny little feet that clickity click on the pavement. That just can't be right, are you sure you haven't lost your mind and made that up? Those pics of Gunner are amazing, not only is he the most adorable baby, but it looks like they were taken by a professional. I will never make fun of you for those God awful hummingbird pics you took again. I am humbled.

Welcome home! Sure is hot here...for my northern sensibilities anyway. Sounds like you had a fun trip, although I agree that there's nothing so precious, or so wear-you-out-tiring, as grandchildren. We just enjoy them, take the pictures, and then pass the little guys back.

Lloyd is planning on golfing on Tues, Wed, and Thurs. morning so if you'd like to meet for lunch someplace or just for a diet Coke break, I'd love to meet you. My number here is 623-556-2577.

I love the pictures. You're turning into a pretty darn good photographer. I'm glad you made it back home safely. I have been wondering if those fires are anywhere near you. I guess I should look at a dang map.

OK, the cheeks! They must be canned and marketed in the cuteness section.

Sounds like a fun trip.
Exhausting.

And can we get a few more dogs?
Eek!

You didn't mention Cinderella cleaning for me when you left? My sweet Roost. He was "zausted" tonight and fell asleep at 6pm. He really is your grandchild....
