See Green

As I returned from Idaho the one thing I especially miss was green. Though Idaho too is desert, it's fertile soil now with the addition of water. Our Arizona yard--not so much. We had a place we had designated as a sand box for the boys, but they never really played in it and Lola used it as a potty. I decided a better use for that area might be as a cacti garden.

Today we went down to The Home Depot and bought us some cactus, ornamental grass, and a couple of vines. The more vegetation we get in our rock-covered yard the better. I need green.

I miss the green of CA here in UT.

I agree. We lived in North Carolina for a year just before moving here, and it's so green you can hardly see anything for all the trees in the way. I remember thinking as the plane landed in Phoenix, "Did we just move to Mars?"

A friend of mine moved to Seattle from Utah. When she came down for a visit one of the first things she said to me was, "I forgot how brown and yellow Utah is." This was toward the end of the summer when of course everything is brown, yellow, and dead. Your plants look great. I like the idea of a cacti garden.

We've lived in Oregon for several years now, and boy am I used to everything being so green. I love it. I like the plants you added to your yard!
