Remember the paper white? No one told me that they stink! They do! Kind of a mix between bad breath and a sour dish rag. Sounds lovely, eh? I kept smelling something faintly foul as I walked past the sink where the flowers are. I scrubbed and bleached and cleaned and--still stinky. Finally, I leaned in to the flowers. Blech! They might be pretty, but they smell icky. (I noticed on Nienie's blog that her paper whites are tall and gangly too, so evidently mine are "normal.") I haven't heard if hers stink yet.
One of the books reserved for me the other day was The Tiger's Wife. Somewhere (Pinterest probably) I saw a recommendation for it. I'm over half way through and have real mixed feelings. Maybe it's my migraines or my mushy brain or my lack of determination, but I'm struggling. Definitely not a mindless read. It flips back and forth between the narrator and her grandfather's story. I'm constantly going back to try to remember who I'm reading about--they're both doctors. I will finish. Some areas are mesmerizing and some are just too convoluted. The author is in her 20's and is touted as a literary genius. That might be why I don't follow it at times. I've never claimed to be very intelligent.
I only have 4 Imitrex to last me until January 5th. Insurance will not renew my prescription until one month is up. It might sound like plenty of pills, but not for me. I think the fear of running out is giving me more headaches. Sheesh.
Lola and I walked about 2 miles yesterday. We were both dragging when we returned home. Lola told me she needs to walk more consistently or not at all. Lola is so wise. I need to put her in charge of my exercise routine; however, right now she is hunkered under a blanket sleeping, so I don't think she's going to get me up off the couch any time soon. Lazy, Lola!!
I think I'll join Lola and read until I fall asleep. I'm so much better at that than walking. I'm striving to do things I'm good at in the new year. I'm wise too--

2 miles!!?? You walked two miles?? Is that even possible? I walked to the mailbox yesterday and I think I sprained my butt muscles.
I wanted to get a Paper White after seeing yours. But now that you mention how STINKY they are. I'm going to FURGETABOUTIT. The book sounds too intense for me. Especially if you have to jump all over the place to read it. Walking is the way to go if you want to lose weight. TWO miles is GOOD. Hang in there. Build up your stamina and you'll find yourself walking farther and farther. It's envigorating and good for the soul. Take care.
I could use a nap right now... you can take one for me please!
I'm taking that name for my next blog. Stinky. :)
I'm so proud of you and Lola! She's such a 'task master'. The little dear.
I heard of the book you are reading and am happy to have you critique it for me so I don't have to find it at the library. Books that jump back and forth drive me nuts....I'm TOO old to try to remember what happened on page 22 that relates to page 107. Scheez. That author truly has NO clue about people over 60.
You know Imitrex is generic now, right? I feel the panic about not having a back up supply....been there myself. Have you tried taking a Tylenol with it? It takes away some of the neck pain.
Take care Jo....
I am NEVER without my imitrex. SO glad it's generic!
I have the stuff stashed everywhere. Whoever invented it is my hero for life.
I had forgotten that they were so stinky until you mentioned it. I had one a couple of years ago, thought it was cool and all, then I realized it was a total nose offender.
Garbarge? Oh yes I did!
What a stinkin funny post:)
Now I know not to get Paper Whites. That book does not sound the least bit interesting. I read for entertainment not intellectual stimulation.
