Forgot to take pictures (again), but I made breakfast burritos this morning for Rickster's Christmas Eve breakfast. They were delicious. I'm becoming a Pioneer Woman cooking fool. I only made 1/2 the recipe (since I'm not feeding a bunch of cowboys) and I froze 4 or 5 and still have some filling left over. It was pretty easy--even I could do it!
The prune cake was a BIG hit here! And this with Mr.-I-Don't-Eat-Fruity-Stuff....It is moist and not terribly sweet. It is addictive and scrumptious. You will love it. I almost guarantee. Rick eats it with his ice cream every night and I've slivered away half of it just sampling. (You know I believe there's no calories if you sliver cake and pie and all forms of fattening things.)
Daughter has stomach flu so I don't know what she will be doing this holiday. Heaven help her if she has to stay home with just her family!! (Yes, I AM being snarky here!) Her friends on Facebook said it's a norovirus or something and that one is contagious for three days after the worst symptoms are over. OK, so Christmas is for sharing, but I don't think any one wants you to share this, little one. Stay home. Please. Just once. Take Mom's advice. Please.
I'm watching football, reading an Arizona author that I found and like--Sylvia Nobel, and Rick might go fishing at Surprise pond. Tomorrow is church, barbecued ribs, and War Horse.
Rick just asked, "You're not depressed, are you?"
"Not yet!" I answered and we laughed and laughed.
We think we're funny and it shows you how well he knows me. It's a slightly off kilter Christmas here, but it will be fine. You already know we're a little unorthodox. You enjoy the holiday, y'all. I need more Diet Coke and all will be well! Love and merriness.

Sorry to here Rachel is sick, that's no fun on Christmas. I made brian a strata this moring with spicy turkey sausag, bacon cheese and mushrooms. It was pretty amazing. So glad you are enjoying the PW cookbook. I made her creamy mashed potatoes that we will be having tomorrow. Did you read her post today about the donut?? Hilarious, her best post yet. Love you and I hope you have the best CHristmas ever.
I think you're doing brilliantly. And breakfast burritos sound SO GOOD right now!
Hope Rachel feels better. Christmas is no time to be sick!
Sorry to hear she is sick. Hope you all don't get it. I really enjoy hearing your stories here and appreciate your comments on my blog too. From my home to yours... I want to wish you and your family a very MERRY CHRISTMAS.
Sounds like you're having a grand time as "pioneer lady" -- good to see you laughing again.
One of my goals is to make all the recipes in her book. Hubs isn't sure about the Prune cake. Maybe have to slip that one in on him. :)
